If you haven’t transferred points to Hyatt it’s time to get comfortable with the process and benefits because it’s one of the best uses of your Chase points!
Which Chase cards allow transfers to Hyatt?
In order to transfer Chase Ultimate Rewards points to Hyatt you need to have one of these four Chase credit cards.
- Chase Sapphire Preferred
- Chase Sapphire Reserve
- Chase Sapphire Reserve Business
- Chase Ink Business Preferred
Chase points can be easily moved between cards and household members so if needed you can move points from any Chase card that earns Ultimate Rewards® points to any of the four cards mentioned above and be able to transfer those points to travel partners.
The Chase Sapphire Preferred is the MOST recommended card to start with because of its low annual fee and fantastic travel protections. You can read more about that card HERE.
Why is Hyatt called the redemption “sweet spot”?
Only two credit card currencies transfer to Hyatt – Chase and Bilt.
Hyatt is often called the “sweet spot” in regards to redeeming credit card points because the dollar value of the redemption is often much higher than other uses of points.
One advantage of using points to stay in Hyatt properties is that resort fees and taxes and fees are waived when you book with points. This means you can truly stay in a Hyatt property without any out of pocket cost and enjoy all the property’s amenities without paying hefty resort fees.
Unlike other hotel programs, Hyatt award rates are predictable and straightforward. You can find that award chart HERE.

Another advantage is the ability to earn FREE nights, even when you’re staying for FREE thanks to the Hyatt “Brand Explorer”. This is often referred to as “Hyatt Bingo.”

For every 5 unique Hyatt brands you stay at, even if they are booked with points, you will earn a FREE award night for any category 1-4 property. With over 30 brands in the Hyatt portfolio you can earn up to six FREE award nights. The award night will be valid for one year after it is earned.
You can check your progress in your Hyatt portfolio under “Brand Explorer”

TIP: When we need to book two rooms per night I book one room in my name and the other room in my husband’s name so we both earn a night towards Hyatt status as well as any applicable stamps on our Hyatt Bingo “Brand Explorer” cards. Two Bingo cards is better than one!
What are Chase points worth?
Chase points earned before October 26, 2025 are worth 1.25-1.5 CPP (cents per point) in the Chase Travel portal until October 26, 2027.
At 1.25-1.5 CPP the value of 100,000 points is $1,250-$1,500
Starting October 26, 2025 any new points earned can be redeemed at a 1:1 rate on Chase Travel – which is 1 CPP. The Chase travel portal may feature some Points Boost offers worth up to 1.5 CPP, but from what I’ve seen these boosts tend to geared toward high end properties and upgraded flights which don’t really fit my travel style.
With that said, for points earned after October 26, 2025 don’t count on getting more than 1 CPP in the Chase Travel portal.
At 1 CPP the value of 100,000 points is $1,000
It is not uncommon to get over 2-4 CPP when you transfer Chase points to Hyatt to book hotel stays.
At 2-4 CPP the value of 100,000 points is $2,000-$4,000
You’ll typically get the most value from your Chase points when you transfer them to travel partners. Hyatt is one of the most valuable travel partners available.

Check out this post for a real-life example of booking a Hyatt hotel stay and how to decide if it’s better to pay with cash, book in the travel portal or transfer points to Hyatt.
Before transferring points to Hyatt
You will need to have a Hyatt account in order to transfer Chase points to Hyatt and the first and last name on the Hyatt account needs to match the first and last name of the Chase account you are transferring from.
It is free to create a Hyatt loyalty account.
Once points are transferred to a travel partner they cannot be transferred back to Chase so make sure you see availability on the Hyatt website for the dates you want before making the transfer. The transfer of points to Hyatt is immediate.
Hyatt has recently added a handy points calendar to their website so you can more easily see which dates are available with points.

On that calendar you will also be able to view which dates are off-peak, standard and peak-pricing for that property.

How to transfer Chase points to Hyatt
These directions and images are taken from the Chase website. The process will be very similar in the Chase app.
Log into your Chase account and go to the account details of the Chase card you want to transfer points from.
Tap on the blue “Redeem” option next to the number of Ultimate Rewards you have.

On the top menu tap the “Travel” menu and select “Transfer points to partners”

This will pull up a list of all Chase transfer partners.

Scroll down the page and you will see Hyatt listed near the bottom.

Tap the > symbol next to the Hyatt option to review the transfer terms.

Tap on “Transfer Points”
This is where you will link your Chase account to your Hyatt account by inputting your Hyatt membership number. The name on the Chase and Hyatt account must match.

Input the number of points you would like to transfer to Hyatt.

Review transfer details before selecting “Submit”

You may be required to verify your account for security purposes by receiving a code via text or phone.

After verification your transfer will be completed.

The transfer is immediate. You should be able to log into your Hyatt account and see the points available to complete your booking.
How to earn Chase points
One of my favorite things about Chase points is that they are the easiest points to replenish (and I’m not talking about settling for 1-2x points per $1 spent by using a Chase credit card you already have!)
